Driveway loops are a fast, reliable form of vehicle detection and a key component of modern access control, allowing automatic gates to open as a vehicle approaches.

They’re available in three primary types: direct-burial loops, which are installed before concrete or asphalt is poured; saw-cut loops, which are placed into a narrow groove cut into an existing driveway and sealed with loop sealant; and virtual vehicle detectors, which use microwave and ultrasonic sensing patterns to detect cars without cutting into the driveway surface.

Mounted on a post beside the entrance, virtual detectors offer a non-invasive alternative for properties where digging isn’t feasible. All three options integrate seamlessly with sliding and swing gate operators, providing dependable performance for residential, commercial, and industrial perimeter security systems.
